Description

This is a small house, likely dating from the 17th century or earlier, originally built as one with number 19. It is situated on Fore Street in Barton, Torquay. The construction is of cob and stone rubble, with a thatched roof that is hipped at the left end. There is a stack on the left end with a truncated, plastered shaft, and another axial stack at the junction with number 19, featuring a low stone rubble shaft. The house has a single-depth plan to the main block, with a rear addition. The front is symmetrical, with a central 20th-century front door and two timber casement windows on each floor, with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected, but may retain features of interest, including an early roof structure.
