Description

The lime kiln, located at SX 9119 6657, is a structure likely built in the early 19th century and was in use within the last 40 years. It is constructed from local grey limestone rubble. The exterior features battered walls and a segmental-headed opening at the front of the kiln. Inside, the kiln is partly filled with debris, which has raised the ground level. There is also evidence of a blocked opening on the rear wall of the kiln. The kiln is situated on the edge of a former limestone quarry.
