Description

The gate piers and wall date to circa 1836-40 and were constructed concurrently with Meadfoot Lodge. The wall is built of slatestone rubble. Castellated piers mark the entrance where it meets Meadfoot Road. Approximately 4 metres of stone-coped wall extends from these piers to rendered pyramidal piers on either side. This stone-coped wall then runs along Higher Woodfield Road. Similar piers flank a pedestrian entrance to Meadfoot Lodge at its northern end, and the wall terminates at the drive to Singleton. The structure is included for group value.
