Description

Meadfoot Lodge is a villa, dating from approximately 1836 to 1840, and now used as holiday flats. The building is constructed of stuccoed walls with a slate roof and corniced rendered stacks. It has a double-depth plan with a central stairhall. The architectural style is Classical, with a symmetrical 5-window front. The central range is pedimented and slightly projecting. The windows are mostly 6/6-pane sashes, with some blind windows to the right. A porch features Doric columns and a cornice to the entablature. Other details include a string course and balustraded parapet. The right-hand return wall is also pedimented and features similar sashes, although a late 19th-century first-floor oriel window has been added. The left-hand return has two windows with 6/6-pane sashes, and a 20th-century ground-floor projecting bay. Internally, moulded cornices are present and mid-19th century double doors lead to the porch. A ground-floor front conservatory and a right-return verandah, noted in a 1975 description, have been removed.
