Description

33 Winner Street is a house that has been divided into flats, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The building is rendered and features a slate roof with stacks that have rendered shafts. It is set high above the street, located behind a row of shops, and has a double-depth plan that is two rooms wide.

The exterior consists of three storeys with a symmetrical five-bay front. The hipped slate roof has deep eaves supported by moulded brackets, and the building is adorned with channelled rusticated quoins. There are platbands at the first and second-floor sill levels, and blind recesses in the centre of the first and second floors. A central projecting porch has a later lean-to roof with glazed sides. The porch includes piers with sunk panels, moulded capitals, an entablature with paired moulded brackets, and a moulded cornice. The outer doorway is flanked by etched glass panels and an overlight, leading to a 19th-century half-glazed front door with margin panes, some of which feature coloured glass, along with an overlight. The porch is paved with tiles from around the 1860s.

On the ground floor, the windows are 19th-century six-over-nine pane sashes, while the first and second floors feature 19th-century twelve-pane sashes. The interior has been partially inspected and includes original doors. The stair balustrade is boarded in, but some slender turned balusters are visible, and other interesting features may still be present.
