Description
39 St Peter Street is a late 18th-century house that has been divided into flats. It is built with mass wall construction, featuring line-blocked rough-cast rendering. The roof is made of natural slate, with brick stacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. The front door is located to the right, with a later staircase positioned behind it. The interior has been re-partitioned for the flat layout, but the rooms are heated by a stack at the left end of the house.
The exterior stands three storeys high and has a two-bay front. It features a wide pilastered doorcase with a projecting cornice. The door is a late 19th or early 20th-century four-panel design, with the top panels glazed and decorated with margin and small panes. On either side of the door, there is glazed and panelled infill with geometric stained glass dating from around 1900. To the left of the door, there is a cast-iron bootscraper. The windows have flush frames, with the left bay of the house containing one tripartite hornless sash window at ground-floor level and another at second-floor level. At first-floor level, there are two casement windows with margin panes, and at second-floor level, a two-light casement window to the right, with each light containing four panes. Both first-floor casement windows have cast-iron balconies. The interior has not been inspected.
