Description

A pair of houses dating from around 1810, built as a single entity. The exterior is of Flemish bond brick with a natural slate roof, gabled at the ends, and featuring an axial stack topped with ten tapering terracotta chimney pots.

The houses share a symmetrical plan with a mirror layout, each one room wide and two rooms deep. They have front doors, with a passageway to the right containing an entrance door.

The two-storey facade has a two-window front, plus the passageway door. An eaves board runs along the top of the building. Identical pilastered doorcases feature a cornice that juts out over the pilasters, surrounding fielded panelled reveals. The doors are six-panelled, with the upper panels glazed, a fielded centre panel, and a lower flush panel with reeding. Windows are set within flat brick arches. The passageway door is similar in style but lacks glazing and has a plain overlight. All the windows are hornless 19th-century sashes: twelve panes over the front doors, and sixteen panes for the others.

The interior was not inspected, but may contain features of interest.
