Description
No. 52 St Peter Street is a house from the 1790s that is now used as offices. It features painted Flemish bond brickwork and a natural slate roof with gabled ends. There is a brick stack at the left end and cast-iron rainwater goods. The building has a double-depth plan, being one room wide with an entrance on the right leading into a passage and rear staircase. The kitchen was formerly located in the basement.
The exterior consists of three storeys and a basement, with an asymmetrical two-window front and a modillion eaves cornice. There is a probably late 19th century doorcase on the ground floor to the right, which has round-headed sunk panels and a cornice supported on consoles. The entrance features a four-panel door with a plain overlight. To the left on the ground floor, there is a tripartite sash window with two-pane lights, while the first and second floors have four-pane horned sash windows.
Inside, there is a stick baluster staircase with a mahogany handrail and pendants, which includes a flight leading down to the basement kitchen.
