Description

This is a town house, dating from the 1840s and later renovated in the late 20th century, and now converted into flats. It is built using a mass wall construction method, although it appears to be brick-built. The front of the building is faced with plain stucco and has a slate roof with a chimney stack on the left side.

The building’s plan includes double-depth heated bays on the left, and a square stairwell in the front right corner. The layout has been altered for the flat conversions.

The exterior is three storeys high and shows no evidence of a basement from the front elevation. The asymmetrical facade has two bays. A boxed eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The doorcase is pilastered and has sunken panels and a cornice. The reveals of the doorcase contain fielded panels. The front door is six-panelled with the central panels glazed, and it has a fanlight with spoke glazing bars. A bootscraper is located to the right of the front door. To the left of the door is a tripartite sash window with timber glazing bars added in the late 20th century. The first and second floors each have two sash windows with sixteen panes and horns.

Inside, the staircase features stick balusters, and other original features may survive.
