Description

This is a house, likely dating from the 1790s. It is now used as a nursery and offices. The exterior is painted Flemish bond brick with a natural slate roof and brick stacks with terracotta chimneypots, one particularly decorative example to the rear.

The house follows a double-depth plan, with a room depth and a passage entrance to the left leading to a rear staircase; the rooms are heated by the right-end stacks.

The three-storey front elevation exhibits an asymmetrical but regular three-window arrangement, featuring a modillion eaves cornice. A six-panel front door is located on the left, with fielded panelled surrounds and a fanlight with spoke glazing bars; it is framed by a fluted pilastered doorcase with cornice and fluted frieze. The ground-floor window is a boxed tripartite sash with a 12-pane light in the centre and four-pane lights to the sides. First and second-floor windows are sash windows, with 3 over 6 panes, and a 2 over 4 pane central sash, which appear to be replacements. A cast-iron street sign is incorporated into the front facade. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original features.
