Description
Chaveney Manor is a house that has been subdivided into flats. It dates from the late 17th century, possibly with a core from the 16th century. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring a plinth, quoins, and an eaves cornice, topped with a hipped Swithland slate roof. The roof has large brick end stacks, which are decorated with blank arches. The house stands 2½ storeys tall and has four 2-light wooden mullion and transom windows, along with two similar 3-light windows below. There is a doorway on the right with a 6-panelled door and an overlight, all of which have cambered lintels. Above, there are two 2-light dormers.
On the left end, there is a wing that was probably originally one storey but has been raised to two storeys, featuring a 20th-century 2-light window on both floors. A projecting stack is located at the rear. Additionally, there is a two-storey wing and a further lower two-storey wing made of granite rubble stone that project to the rear. Inside, there is a late 17th-century oak staircase with a well plan, and at the foot of the staircase, there is an 8 fielded panelled door with a pediment. The first floor includes an oak bolection moulded panelled room, other panelling, and a room with a timber-framed wall and a doorway featuring a pointed arch.
