Description

The General Baptist Chapel in Quorn dates from 1770, with early 20th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick with plain tile and Swithland slate roofs, featuring a brick stack on the left end, a rear stack, and a central metal louvre stack. The building consists of three sections: the chapel on the left, a former Sunday School set back in the center, and an early 20th-century extension on the right with a hipped roof.

The chapel is two stories tall and has three leaded light windows with cambered lintels, arranged as two-light, three-light, and two-light. Below the central window is a tablet inscribed "General Baptist Chapel MDCCLXX". The right end has a three-light window with a two-light window above it. The central section is three stories high with three three-light windows, also with cambered lintels. The right section is one story, featuring leaded light windows with mullions and transoms, including a five-light window at the front and two two-light windows on the left side. There is a lean-to on the right end.

Inside, the chapel retains its original gallery with a panelled front supported by iron posts. Two wooden Doric pillars, hand-turned in the churchyard outside, were added when the chapel was extended in 1825. A wall tablet commemorates Rev. Benjamin Pollard, dated 1818.
