Description

The bandstand in Town Gardens is a late 19th-century structure made of cast iron, featuring an aluminium sheet and lead roof. It was produced by Elmbank Foundry in Glasgow. The bandstand is octagonal and raised on a podium with four steps. It has cast iron columns and a balustrade on four sides, with later 20th-century infilling in wrought iron on three additional sides, designed to match the original pattern. Notable features include large curled external brackets at ground level and a square clock tower topped with a ball finial.
