Description
The bandstand in Lewisvale Public Park, Newbigging, Musselburgh, was built around 1900 by the Lion Foundry in Kirkintilloch. It is an open, octagonal structure made of cast iron and sits on a concrete base. The bandstand features a shallow ogee lead roof with a step below the concave top section, along with a cast iron finial and decorative brattishing at the eaves.
Supporting the bandstand are eight slender cast iron Ionic columns on cast iron pedestals. These columns hold up ornate convoluted brackets that extend under the wide eaves and between the columns. Additionally, ornamental iron railings are positioned between the pedestals.
