Description
4 Grove Street in Musselburgh is an early 19th century pair of semi-detached houses, standing two storeys tall. The design is symmetrical, featuring an advanced double centre bay with a corniced parapet and a stepped blocking course. This bay includes two arched doorways with impost moulds, original fanlights, and deeply recessed doors, with one window above each doorway on the first floor.
The exterior is constructed of ashlar up to the first floor band course and above the eaves level band course. The first floor is made of sandstone rubble, which has raised window and angle margins. The flanking bays are also rubble with raised window margins and an eaves band course. Each house has tripartite windows on both the ground and first floors, with 6 and 2 pane sash windows. The original slate roof has been replaced with concrete tiles on No 4, while the end stacks are rendered.
