Description
The stables at Pinkie House in Musselburgh were built around 1800 by John Paterson. This two-storey building features a Classical style with Tudor castellated motifs. It has a symmetrical, semi-octagonal plan, with advanced angle bays that create tower-like features.
The roof is piended and covered with slate, while the exterior is made of ashlar stone, featuring a string course at the first-floor level and an arcaded corbel table that supports a crenellated parapet. The central entrance has a segmental arched opening with an impost mould, flanked by one window on each side. There are slit windows in the angle towers and two additional windows on the flanks, all adorned with Tudor hood moulds. The first-floor windows are low, with several being blind, while the ground floor has six-pane sash windows and the first floor has three-pane windows.
The elevation facing the yard is plain and does not have parapets.
