13 High Street, Musselburgh

This building at 13 High Street, Musselburgh, dates from around 1790 and features two high storeys with a symmetrical three-window facade. It has a ridge slate roof with end stacks and is constructed from coursed rubble. The front is adorned with angle Doric pilasters that extend to the first-floor cill band course, with quoins above. The ground floor showcases pilastered and corniced windows and doorpiece, with the pilasters of the doorpiece finely rusticated. The entrance includes a door flanked by narrow sidelights and a fine original fanlight. The first-floor windows have raised margins, and there is an eaves course below a thin cornice that is decorated with heavy mutules. The gable elevation features a small attic window above the roof of No 9. The windows have been reglazed with single pane sashes.
