Description
The bandstand in Locke Park, built in 1908 by the Lion Foundry Company of Kirkintilloch, is a Grade II listed structure. It is model number 23 from the foundry’s catalogue, representing a late-19th century design. The bandstand is constructed from cast iron and sits on a low brick base with stone coping. It features eight ornamental cast-iron columns with foliated capitals, which support elaborate openwork brackets and an arcaded frieze. The top is an ogee dome covered with felt, topped by a lead-covered central cap. Below the dome, there is a timber soundboard.
