Description

No. 86 Downend Road is an early 19th-century turnpike cottage. It is rendered and has a modern pantile roof. The building's plan is in the shape of a cross with angled end bays. A south wing features a recessed angled bay containing the entrance and a projecting angled porch verandah, all under a continuous hipped roof. The windows on the angles of the bays have Y tracery and shutters, while the segment-headed sash windows are elsewhere. A battened Tudor arch frames the doorway. The central chimney is octagonal and has a simple modillion capping.
