Description
Christ Church was built in 1831 by local architect Oliver Greenway, with the chancel added in 1914. The church is constructed of coursed pennant rubble with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof, with the chancel having tiled roofing. The west end has a coped gable with side pinnacles and a two-light belfry topped with a pierced spirelet. It includes angle buttresses and two side lancets. The central three-light pointed window has intersecting tracery, and there is a Tudor arch doorway with panelled doors and a carved spandrel. The nave is five bays long, featuring an ashlar parapet, three-light lancets with intersecting tracery, and headstops to the labels, along with dividing buttresses. The chancel is two bays, and there is a tower vestry to the north-east and a tower chapel to the south-east. A rose window is located on the east side. The most prominent feature is the panelled screen above the chancel arch, which has side belfries and pierced spirelets. The interior is designed as a wide auditorium type.
