Description
The main block of Wendover Maternity Hospital is an early 19th-century building featuring rendered walling and a mansard side roof with end gables. It stands two and a half storeys tall, with an attic that includes three modern dormers. The façade has three windows with plate glass sashes set in moulded architraves adorned with egg and dart ornamentation. A central porch boasts a cornice and blocking course, leading to an arched doorway with a moulded surround, keystone, imposts, and panelled pilasters. The entrance has glazed double doors beneath an arched fanlight. The building has a parapet with coping, although the end pilasters and dentilled cornice have been removed. To the left, there is a tall two-storey wing. Inside, the original dog leg staircase features brackets at the ends of the risers.
