Description
The lodge to St Matthias' College was built between 1851 and 1852 by John Bevan. It is constructed from rubble Pennant stone with limestone dressings and features a tiled roof. The building has a single-depth plan and is a single storey. The entrance elevation is windowless, featuring a lancet door set in a projecting porch. There is a chimney to the right and a canted bay on the left return, all resting on a square plinth adorned with trefoil heads and an ashlar weathered roof. The interior has not been inspected.
The lodge includes subsidiary features such as entrance piers with pilaster fronts and moulded caps, along with iron gates and piers. Additionally, there is a perimeter wall made of Pennant rubble surrounding St Matthias' College.
