Description
Colston School, The Lodge is a house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared Pennant rubble with limestone dressings and has a pantile roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range. The front is symmetrical, featuring a plat band and rusticated quoin strips. There is a central round-headed, keyed relieving arch with ashlar voussoirs above a plain doorway that has a large key, along with a 20th-century porch. The flat-headed windows have chamfered, keyed architraves and brackets, with sashes. The second floor has similar openings but with segmental heads and sunken spandrels above. The left-hand return of the building curves back outside the entrance gates. The interior has not been inspected. The lodge serves as part of the entrance to Colston's School.
