Description

The piers, gates, and walls to Colston's School, located on Bell Hill in Stapleton, date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from limestone ashlar and squared, coursed Pennant rubble, featuring wrought-iron gates and a Portland stone doorway. The structure includes two tall piers that have panels above and below a central roundel adorned with relief wyverns, along with moulded caps and carved dolphin finials. The two tall wrought-iron gates are flanked by coped screen walls that have Pennant pilasters. There is a left-hand doorway with plain Portland jambs and a lintel. Additionally, cast-iron lamp-holders are present on each wall.
