Description

The group comprises a barn, coach house, coachman's house, yard, and riding circle, dating to circa 1800 and later, and originally associated with Cleeve House (now demolished). All buildings are constructed of pennant stone rubble with slate roofs.

The barn, the main feature, is 'T'-shaped, with a projecting gable above a wide segmental arch. The gable has a further gabled section at its apex, designed for hoisting, with recessed oculi and screen walls flanking it. Inside the barn, there’s an arched entry to the main section and vent-slits.

The coach house forms an 'L'-shaped extension to the right side of the barn, featuring two segmental-headed coach entries. There’s staff accommodation on the first floor and a tack room at the angle where the coach house meets the barn. The coachman's house was remodelled in the mid to late 19th century and is now rendered with a roughcast finish. It is two storeys high and has three windows; the ground floor has two bays with modern windows (one with glazing bars) flanking a door with radiating fanlights.

The riding circle is a hexagonal structure with angle piers, a plinth, and an eaves band. The central lantern is now absent. It has three doors: two are in pointed arches with original studded doors, while the third leads into the house. A single window is located above the south door. The interior is circular, comprising a single space approximately 40 feet across, with a substantial roof structure.
