Description

Villa in a planned group, dating circa 1827 and designed by John Foulston. The villa is constructed of stucco with stucco detailing, including a plinth and a mid-floor string. It has dry slate hipped roofs with projecting eaves and tall rendered stacks over the front and rear walls. The design follows a double-depth, L-shaped plan. The building is two storeys high, featuring a two-window-range entrance front and a two-window-range service wing set back on the left. Original or replacement 12-pane hornless sash windows are present. A large distyle Doric porch with antae, unfluted columns, and a plain frieze is positioned under the left-hand window. The doorway has a panelled architrave with corner blocks set back within, and a glazed and panelled door. The right-hand return has a two-window range with iron balconettes to the first floor. The interior has not been inspected, but is reported to be very fine. This villa is the most prominent within a notable group.
