Description
No. 8 Albemarle Villas is a villa built around 1827 by John Foulston, located in a planned group of buildings. It features a stucco exterior with decorative stucco details and a slate hipped roof with projecting eaves. The villa has rendered stacks over the side walls and a double-depth plan with an entrance hall situated behind the left-hand room. It stands two storeys high and has a garden front with three windows. The windows are two-pane sashes, and there is a cast-iron balcony supported by a three-bay arcade of latticed segmental arches between slender columns. The left-hand side of the villa has a porch with a moulded entablature and square columns. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is expected to be of interest. The road-frontage gates and railings are included as a separate item. This villa is part of a notable group of villas designed by Foulston.
