Description

This is a planned terrace of houses located on Mollesworth Road in Stoke, Plymouth. The terrace dates to the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco with stucco detailing, and have roofs covered with dry slate or asbestos slate laid in three stepped sections, concealed behind a stuccoed parapet with a moulded cornice. Stuccoed end stacks also feature moulded cornices, particularly at numbers 120 and 122. Each pair of houses has a double-depth plan, with two front rooms and a central pair of entrances.

The terrace is three storeys high, with each pair displaying a symmetrical four-window front. The original windows are hornless sash windows with glazing bars, and those to the ground floor have fanlight heads. Original paired round-arched doorways are surmounted by spoked fanlights and panelled doors. The stucco detailing includes channelled rustication on the ground floor, a string course above, and pilasters with pediments on consoles above the first-floor openings.

The interior has not been inspected but is likely to contain features of interest. The terrace exhibits a strong Classical design consistent with the stucco tradition and is shown on a map dated 1867.
