Description

This is a pair of villas built in the early to mid-19th century in Plymouth, Devon. They are constructed of stucco and have dry slate hipped roofs with deep eaves, and a central rendered stack. The houses have a double-depth plan, with a central two-bay section projecting, flanked by the entrance bays.

The overall design is symmetrical with a four-window facade. The windows are horned sashes, with glazing bars to the villa on the right. The projecting bays feature two-storey tripartite bowed windows with moulded cornices on consoles. However, the villa on the right has lost its first-floor bow and now has a sash window with louvred shutters. The entrance bays contain tripartite transomed doorways with moulded cornices on consoles. The right-hand villa retains its original margin panes and a six-panel door.

The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of architectural interest. The villas represent a complete semi-detached pair in the Classical tradition.
