Pair of villas in planned group. 1860s. Stucco with stucco detail; dry slate and asbestos slate mansard roof over bracketed entablature; 8 pedimented mansard dormers; stuccoed end stacks with moulded entablature. Double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic over basement; overall symmetrical 1:1:2:2:1:1-window entrance front. Horned sashes within moulded architraves; large tripartite stair windows with central open and broken pediments on consoles, towards left and right. Channelled rustication to large porches near left and right. 2-window-range porches have parapets with moulded entablature, and, at left and right, distyle pedimented doorways with Tuscan columns plus inner keyed architraves, overlights and panelled doors. Rear has similar eaves and roof details to front and full-height canted bays at left and right surmounted by smaller canted dormers behind balustrades. INTERIOR: of No.3 has moulded band with roses to vestibule, moulded cornice with carved modillions to entrance hall, open-well staircase with open string, turned balusters, turned and carved newel, and some old chimneypieces including Edwardian Baroque chimneypiece to stair hall. Part of a distinctive planned group of semi-detached villas.
