Description
This is a row of six terraced houses located at 6-10 Beirut Place, Stoke, Plymouth, dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco with stucco detailing, topped by an asbestos slate mansard roof behind a stuccoed parapet. The parapet features a moulded cornice and brackets, with segmental-roofed dormers punctuating the roofline. The end stacks are a mix of brick and rendering.
Each house follows a double-depth plan, with one front room and an entrance hall on the left side upon entry. The two-storey facades are arranged with a two-window range. Segmental arches frame the windows, which are mostly original 12-pane sashes at numbers 7-9. Later sashes and 20th-century windows are found at numbers 6 and 10 respectively. Pilastered door surrounds feature moulded hoods on consoles, with overlights containing margin panes above panelled doors at numbers 6-9; number 10 has a 20th-century door.
The stucco detailing includes a plinth, channelled rustication on the ground floor, a mid-floor string, and moulded architraves to the first-floor windows. The interiors were not inspected but are likely to hold features of interest.
