Sydney Farmhouse

Sydney Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with a front range dating from the late 18th century and an early 19th-century range added at right angles to the rear. The building features rubble-stone walls and ashlar stone quoins, topped with slate roofs that have stone gable copings, finials, and moulded kneelers. There are dressed stone stacks with moulded cornices. A highly detailed carved head is set into the south gable, dating from the 19th century. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two windows with three-light stone mullions that have a convex section coming to a central arris, each with separate labels above. The windows have iron and metal casements. The rear range, which is the same height, also has stone mullion windows from the 19th century. A gabled porch is located on the south wall, and the entrance features moulded jambs and a round head, although it is now blocked and has a 20th-century window. A 20th-century plank door has been added to the east side, while a further rear door to the west is a 19th-century plank door with a stone canopy above, supported by moulded stone brackets.
