Description
Townsend Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 15th century, which was remodeled in the 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The front range features squared ashlar blocks with rubble stone end walls, a stone slate roof, and end stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range that includes two hipped eaves dormers and two triple casements on each floor. On the ground floor to the left, there is a blocked 15th-century stone cross window with cusped heads to the lights. The mid-19th century parallel rear range includes a porch linking the two ranges, a west gable with a blank plaque, an upper pair of casements, and a lower triple casement with a relieving arch. The north side has two eaves-breaking dormer gables and a lower gabled centre projection. Inside, the front range features heavy chamfered beams in the ground floor west room and a deep chimney breast.
