Description
Barton Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a concrete tile roof, with a ridge stack and a stack at the south end. The building is 1½ storeys high. The 19th-century windows include pairs of casements below and 4-pane sashes above in dormers that break the eaves with a shouldered design. There are two windows to the left of the door and one to the right, with the door set in a gabled stone porch. Inside, the cottage has deep chamfered and stopped spine beams, and large timber-lintel fireplaces located at both the south end and in the north end room, the latter featuring a Tudor-arched lintel and ashlar sides.
