Description
A farmhouse and barn complex dating from the 17th century, with possible earlier origins, is constructed of rubble stone with stone slate roofs. The main range has coped gables, ridge and end stacks, and a four-window north front featuring flush cyma-moulded mullion windows of the 18th century style. A gabled dormer is also present. The third bay has a door recessed within a flush moulded surround with a hood supported by brackets, alongside a single light window. Hoodmoulds cover the windows, with flat dripmoulds on the left bay. To the west of the main range is a single-storey and attic extension with ovolo-moulded mullion windows and hoodmoulds, including a two-light window to the front and single and two-light windows along the west end wall. This extension has a coped west gable and end stack. The south front has a coped gable to the left of the centre and ovolo-moulded mullion windows, including a single-light window to the attic and a two-light window to the first floor. A slate-roofed lean-to obscures the ground floor of this section. A gable dormer is located to the right. The left bay of the front is slightly set back with a two-light cyma-moulded window on each floor, with hoodmoulds and a relieving arch over the ground floor window. A lower range extends across the east end. The east front of this range is divided into three sections. The left section is two storeys high with a north stack, an upper casement pair, a ground floor door, a six-pane window to the left, and a two-light ovolo-mullion window to the right. Similar three-light mullion windows with hoodmoulds adorn each floor of the south end. The centre and right sections are separated by a break in the roof with a ridge stack. The centre section has a rear stack, an eaves gable with casements, and ground floor casements which replaced a mullion window to the right. The right section features casements to the left and a first-floor centre window under an eaves gable. A barn, attached to the west end of the farmhouse, features an east coped gable, a ridge stack, two ground floor doors, a weatherboarded gabled cart entry, another full-height entry to the right, a door, and steps leading to an upper loft door. A datestone indicating 1774 is on the east gable. An additional barn attached at the west end is not considered to be of special interest.
