Description
The Village Hall, originally a school built in 1850, is constructed from squared rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with a rear stack. The building consists of a single room with a notably steep roof and two stone cross-windows on the front wall. There is a heavy raised band that steps over the windows. A central plaque, now eroded, appears to commemorate the construction of the school in memory of Reverend A. Austin. The south end has a similar three-light window, and both gables are adorned with a quatrefoil at the apex. The roof is supported by a scissor-truss design with three bays. An attached house at the southeast corner has been altered and is not of special interest. The school is situated in a prominent location on a small green opposite the church.
