Description
The Church of All Saints is an Anglican parish church located in Grittleton, Littleton Drew. The central tower dates back to the 15th century, while the nave and chancel were constructed in 1856 by T.H. Wyatt. The building is made of squared rubble stone and features stone slate roofs with coped gables.
The tower is thin and consists of three stages, with a north stair projection leading up to the bell stage. It has dripcourses and flat-headed cusped 2-light bell-openings, topped with an embattled parapet. The 1856 additions are in the Perpendicular style, with slight variations in detail on each side. The nave has three windows and diagonal west buttresses, along with a 3-light pointed west window. There is a gabled north porch situated between flat-headed 2-light windows with hoodmoulds, and the south side features buttresses between flat-headed single-light and two 2-light windows. A vestry is attached to the south side of the tower, which includes a west door.
The chancel has a 3-light pointed east window, with 2-light flat-headed windows on each side and a lancet window on the north side. Inside, the church is plain, showcasing open timber roofs and a stained glass east window from 1856 by C. and A. Gibbs. A 13th-century circular font rests on a moulded shaft with spurs at the foot. The north wall features a recumbent 15th-century female effigy in a wall recess, and two fragments of a carved 9th-century cross-shaft are built into the north porch.
