Description
Nos 7 and 9 on Back Street is a detached cottage that was originally two separate cottages. It has an 18th-century core with 19th-century changes to the windows. The building features rubble-stone walls and a thatched roof with gable ends. There are brick stacks located at the left-hand gable, the centre ridge, and the right-hand gable. The cottage is two storeys high and has four windows, along with one window for an outbuilding on the right side. The ground floor openings have 2- and 3-light cast-iron casements with segmental brick arch heads and wooden cills. The front door, located at the centre, is a four-panel door from the 20th century. Attached to the cottage is a former wood-shed, now used as a kitchen, which has rubble stone walls and a hipped thatch roof. There is also a plank door from the 19th century at the rear, framed in large wooden timbers.
