Description
Nos 22-24 on Barden Road is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of slobbered rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. It has a lobby entry and is positioned with its rear facing the street. The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. The entrance, located to the left of centre, has a plain lintel and a plank door. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century single-light window to the left and a three-light double chamfered mullioned window. To the right of the entrance is a blocked ground floor fire window and another three-light double chamfered mullioned window. The upper floor features two three-light double chamfered mullioned windows, which have 20th-century wooden casements. The roof has been raised above the upper floor windows, likely during the late 19th or early 20th century. There is a central ridge stack and a blocked 17th-century segment-headed door on the left-hand return.
