Description

This is a mid-17th century cottage, originally two cottages, that has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. Constructed of squared rubble with stone dressings and a stone slate roof, the cottage is set on its side to Barden Road. The two storeys and three bays display a right-hand entrance with a chamfered surround, basket-arched lintel, plank door, and hoodmould. The ground floor features double-chamfered mullioned windows, originally two-light, but now two-light, with hoodmoulds. The upper floor has two double-chamfered mullioned windows, each with two lights, and a small chamfered window on the right-hand side, featuring a 20th-century casement. A 19th-century single-bay extension to the left includes a 20th-century door and one window per storey. Chimneys are situated on the left and right-hand ridges. The interior is not accessible but is said to contain a 17th-century inglenook fireplace.
