Description
The Cottage, now a hotel, is a single house dating from the 17th century. It features rendered walls and a thatched roof with gable ends and decorative block-ridging. There are three rendered stacks: one at the left gable, one backing onto the cross-passage, and one at the right gable. The building has two storeys and three windows. The ground floor includes a canted bay window with a hipped thatch roof above, featuring 19th-century sash windows. There is a 20th-century French window on the right side. The first floor has wooden sliding-sash windows with thin glazing bars. The front door, located to the left of centre, is wooden with two glass panels and dates from the 20th century. The east elevation is slate-hung and has a double-pointed window.
In front of the house, there are cast iron railings along the street, which have broken-off heads and tall urns at the main bay divisions, all set on a sleeper wall.
