Description
The White House is a detached villa built in 1827 by Joseph Wilson. It is one of three similar buildings and features stone walls that are stuccoed, along with a stucco plat-band. The villa has a low pyramidal slate roof with projecting modillion eaves and four brick stacks, two located at the left-hand eaves and two at the right-hand eaves. The building is square in plan and double depth, with a coach-house at the rear.
It stands two storeys high and has three windows, which are square sashes with thin glazing bars. The ground floor includes tall French windows, also with thin glazing bars, set in shallow elliptical-headed recesses. The front door is centrally located and is a wood, six-panelled design with a semi-circular fanlight above, featuring glazing bars. The doorway is framed by a reeded pilaster surround with plain imposts and a dropped key above. Note that the trelliswork to the French windows and the iron railings to the street are missing.
