Description

The Cottage, now known as Camperdown Farm Cottage, is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar to the front and squared, coursed rubble to the rear. The roof is tiled with a brick end stack. The house has a two-unit plan and one storey with an attic. Originally, it featured a two-window front. The central door is a four-panelled design with a wooden lintel. The original front windows were mullioned, with a three-light design to the left and right, the left window’s mullions having recently been replaced. Gabled dormers flank the front, each containing a two-light mullioned window. All the original windows have hood moulds and label stops. A three-light mullioned window with leaded lights is located at the rear of the property. A partially rebuilt rear range includes a single two-light mullioned window with iron glazing bars and an above one-over-one casement window. A 20th-century kitchen and bathroom range has been added to the rear. Modern mullioned windows are found in the right gable end and along the rear range. The interior features a timber or plaster partition wall, chamfered spine beams and joists, a large open fireplace with a timber bressumer and bread oven.
