Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid 18th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and squared, coursed limestone rubble at the rear. The building features a plinth and coped gables, topped with a stone slate roof that has ashlar end stacks and a restored ashlar ridge stack. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan, stands two storeys plus an attic, and has a five-window range.
At the centre, there is an 18th-century refaced plank door with a moulded wood surround, complemented by a painted lintel and keyblock. A stone gabled porch with coping leads to the entrance. The ground floor features a range of three four-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with king mullions, while the right side of the ground floor and the first floor have a five-window range of three-light, ovolo-moulded mullioned windows. All windows are adorned with hood moulds that have label stops. There are 20th-century dormers on both sides of the roof, and a stone sundial dated 1757 is located on the left side of the first floor. A lead County 'Britannia' firemark is positioned to the right. Additional ovolo-moulded mullioned windows can be found on the left facade and at the rear, along with a blocked staircase.
Inside, there is a large, partially blocked open fireplace with a timber bressumer that has run-out stops. The interior also features chamfered spine beams with ogee stops, some stone flagged floors, and an old plank floor on the first level. A restored 18th-century staircase with original barley sugar balusters completes the interior.
