Description
This is a barn dating from the 18th century, located 140 metres west of Upton Dairy Farm. It features stone walls and a stone porch on the south side. The roof is thatched, hipped at the west end and over the porch. The barn has an open storey with lofts above the west end, and there are centrally located barn doors made of plank-and-muntin. Stone steps lead up to a former granary door on the north elevation, near the west end. The roof structure includes nailed collars and butted through-purlins. Attached to the barn is a yard of cow-stalls, a tack-room, and a workshop, which were built in the early 20th century. These structures have rubble-stone walls and roofs made of French patent tiles. The cow-stalls feature square brick piers with wooden shutters and stable doors.
