Description
No. 653 Dorchester Road is a detached house dated 1849. It features a well-crafted front made of squared and coursed Portland stone, with rubble on the sides and back, and a hipped slate roof with tight eaves. The house is symmetrical, standing two storeys high with two windows, all of which are plain sashes set in plain reveals, featuring flush stone lintels and jambs above stone sills. The central arched doorway has a flush surround and includes a fanlight above the original six-panelled door, which is accessed via one stone step. Between the upper windows, there is a flush datestone inscribed 'WS 1849'. The house has a plinth and bold brick end stacks, and on the left side, there is a small early two-light small-pane casement located at the eaves. There is also a rear wing with a stack. The interior has not been inspected.
