Description
Old Mill House, dated 1854, is a house attached to North Mill. It is constructed from coursed and squared stone with a slate roof. The house is compact and symmetrical, with a further bay projecting forward to the right, fronting attached cottages. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front extended by a single window. The windows are 16-pane sashes, each with a wide tripartite flush lintel and projecting keystone. Flush alternating quoins and stone sills are present. A central 6-pane sash dormer, with long cheeks and a flat roof, is above sashes at each level. The front features a central 6-panel door set under a 3-pane transom light, approached by two stone steps. The left return has 12-pane sashes at each level, and a large central brick eaves stack. The projecting range to the right includes one 16-pane sash matching the detailing on the rest of the building, and features a straight coped parapet which drops to a lower level, extending to a former gate or pier position. The right gable has two large rendered stacks above small-scale additions. The interior was not inspected.
