Description
The School House, now semi-detached houses, was originally a primary school built in 1839. It features coursed and squared stone with tile roofs. The building has a simple hipped design, located directly opposite the Church of St Nicholas, with later gabled extensions at both ends. The main structure is one storey with an attic and includes three 20th-century dormers above three wooden casement windows arranged in groups of three, two, and three lights, each with a transom. The upper lights feature pointed tracery bars and stopped labels. The plinth meets the pavement on the left side, which rises with the street, and there is a chimney stack at the rear. The left gable end has a 20th-century three-light casement on each level, while the return features a dormer above a sloped roof section that covers a door and window. The right end mirrors this design with late 20th-century windows. The distinctive Gothick casements were crafted by the same joiner who worked on the windows of Lorton Farmhouse. The interior has not been inspected.
