Description

This is an early to mid-19th century detached house located on Dorchester Road, Broadwey, Weymouth. The building is constructed of coursed and squared Portland stone with Broadmayne brick dressings, and has a low-pitched hipped slate roof. It comprises a symmetrical front range and a gabled rear range. The front elevation has two storeys and three windows, featuring 12-pane sashes above 16-pane sashes, set within splayed stone lintels and stone sills. Brick is used for the alternating jambs of the windows. A central 19th-century flush panelled and part-glazed door is sheltered by a wide, 20th-century gabled porch. The house has large rendered end stacks and a deep plain eaves projection around the building. While the windows are typical of the early 19th century, the brick jambs suggest a slightly later date. The interior has not been inspected. The detailing is consistent with numbers 701-705 on the same road.
