Description
These are three houses located on Dorchester Road in Broadwey, built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses are part of a longer terrace, and Nos. 707-715 are also of historical interest. The construction is of squared and coursed Portland stone, although No. 701 has a rendered exterior. The roofs are slate-covered.
The houses are two storeys high. No. 701 has plain sash windows and a 20th-century central entrance door with a fanlight above. The other two houses each have two windows with 16-pane sashes. These windows are set within splayed stone lintels, stone sills, and alternating jambs composed of Broadmayne brick. The right-hand end bay is an infill using slightly less well-dressed stone, with a full-width doorway at ground level. No. 703 has a panelled door within a 20th-century glazed gabled porch, and No. 705 features a 20th-century stone porch with a slate gabled roof and a 20th-century door, both positioned to the left of the house frontage. There are four brick ridge stacks. The interiors have not been inspected. These modest cottages represent the longest surviving terrace of this date in Broadwey, retaining original detail in two of the three properties.
